2012 Project 52 – Week 23 & 24

3rd – 9th June
Tinker went to his new home on Friday 8th July. It was a night of mixed emotions. I am glad that he finally found a loving, permanent home. But after having him for over 8 months it was very sad to see him go. We still have Belle...she could be staying permanently if she does not snap out of her attitude.

10th – 16th June
Had a Tupperware party on Sunday 10th and then found out my friend is selling Tupperware in Wellington. It was probably my largest party turn out EVER. Crazy really.

Went to my first ever surprise birthday on Saturday night which was really awesome. The birthday girl was in shock I think! Her bestie (and business partner) and friend organised it. That's her very cute cake made my Bella Cupcakes.

I spent this weekend (16th-17th) on the couch reading, watching TV and mostly napping. It is really odd as I never really nap anymore (I used to do it all the time) and the only time I do is when I am getting sick, or am a bit down. I figure it is because dad is having his surgery this coming week and I am just trying to process my feelings about it all.

To be quite honest I just really do not want to talk or think about it as it just freaks me out completely. I thought that I would have had more time to prepare myself, but it seems that is not the case. If people try and talk to me about it I just get really teary and have to stop talking. He is really healthy and I am sure everything is going to be fine, but I cannot help the “what if’s”.

2012 Project 52 – Week 22

 27th May – 2nd June

Had an awesome day on Saturday catching up with an old school friend Chev. For the last few years we have been trying to catch up at least once a month which is fabulous. We normally do the same thing and go to Sylvia Park and watch a movie, have lunch and wander around the shops talking and laughing. We went to see Dark Shadows which was enjoyable.

Chev just got a brand spanking new job and she needed some new work clothes so we went and had a look at City Chic as they were having a sale. Suffice to say…Chev did not buy anything and I bought an amazing dress.

I do not really wear dresses and the last one I bought was my wedding dress…4 years ago.

I think it’s pretty beautiful and actually quite flattering.

Now to find somewhere to wear it! My birth mum suggested wearing it to Trader Jacks in Raro!

Unbelieveably, it actually needs to be taken in a bit.

2012 Project 52 – Week 21

20th – 26th May

Crazy busy week!

On Tuesday night I finally did Sh’Bam at Les Mills Takapuna with Tara. It was not as bad as I thought. You can read Tara’s blog here. I have only looked at Zumba once, but I think that it is more dance-orientated whereas Sh’bam is still quite aerobics based. I am sure as I get fitter Sh’Bam will get easier and I can add in the arms and hip rolls etc.

Finally kind of broke the gym drought and managed to go 3 times after work. I figure while it is freezing in the mornings and we are not motivated to get out of bed then going after work is a good answer. I still need to be doing more exercise on the weekends as I am not exercising twice a day like I was.

Have been listening to Bob Harper’s audio books and I am really loving them. There are so many amazing, motivating ideas. One main thing was finding something you love about yourself…which when you are obese is not always easy. So I have found 3 things.

  • My smile
  • My legs (even though they are white, and not olive)
  • Great skin

Mark and I had date night on Friday and went to see Men in Black 3. I loved it. I love Tommy Lee Jones and seriously Josh Brolin really looked like a young Jones. I was really disappointed with dinner. We had planned to go to Wagamama and I planned what I was going to eat to make sure I stayed well within my calories; we go to Wagamama and it was packed so we had to go somewhere else. Then I made dumb food choices.

Had a massage on Saturday…so good!

Went to Lisa’s on Saturday night for a Tupperware party and it was fantastic. Loads of laughs and yummy food and a fabulous hug from Jess; I love Jess hugs.

I think that is it?

2012 Project 52 – Week 20

St Heliers...a panoramic view

13th – 19th May

I ended up taking my mum out for a really special mother’s day on Sunday 13th May. I wanted it to just be about the two of us without my dad and Mark. On Father’s Day I will have to think of something lovely to do with my dad.

I bought some beautiful flowers and went and picked mum up from home.

Then we drove to Mission Bay to go and see a movie ‘Salmon Fishing in the Yemen’. We have coffees, and muffins and popcorn.

Once that finished we went for a drive along Tamaki Drive and ended up at St Heliers where we had some beautiful fish and chips and watched the guys with the boards and the sails...is that wake boarding?

It was a really special, magical day.

Love you mum.

2012 Project 52 – Week 19

6th – 12th May

We had family come to stay for the weekend which was really awesome!
I always go into a mad state of panic to get cleaning done. Most of my friends seem to think that I live in an amazingly clean, uncluttered house. Unfortunately, this is all a ruse. Mostly, we will give the house a fairly good clean once a week, but when people come to stay we go full on. I shared the photo I took of the list. It’s quite funny. I always add more things to it i.e. cleaning windows but this time we got everything done. Well I think one thing was missed.

I also did my second 10km walk in Bucklands Beach. It was really difficult as since Daylight Savings started I have pretty much stopped walking at night. But I completed it in under 2 hours. It turned out to be about 13km’s as it was a 1.5km walk to and from the car. My feet were super sore at the end.

The ironic thing was when I entered it into My Fitness Pal. If I burned 1000 calories a day and ate slightly less then I would lose a significant amount of weight in 5 weeks. I figure that if I really push myself I could probably burn 800 calories a day with exercise; this would mean training harder or at least doing things that push my body into a fat burning zone.

2012 Project 52 – Week 18

29th April – 5th May

Okay, so a hugely busy week with a lot of things to LOVE!

First up was a spin class with Penny on Sunday morning. Comment from the instructed “RPM is easy” and she was so right. 17 minutes of hills! OMG I had to sit down for a few!

Mark and I have been watching TV together including Grimm, Once Upon a Time and The Big Bang Theory. I just want to say that I LOVE Amy Farrah Fowler from Big Bang and the ultimate episode for me was when she gets a tiara from Sheldon; her reaction is utter gold! I keep listening to it over and over again.

I purchased some new workout music this week and I love:
‘Defying Gravity’ from Wicked the Musical
‘I Am Woman’ by Jordin Sparks

My week ended with a day trip down to sunny Hamilton to meet the new baby red panda Ketu with Tara. He was so adorable and we got to meet Ketu and his parents. We got to feed them as well. I just about died! I have had his photo as my iPhone screen saver and every time I see his cute little furry face I just die with joy. He is such a cutie.

We also had a face-to-face with the two tigers and even got up close to feed them. Amazing; they are just bigger versions of our cats.

Loved the little Kune Kune piglets and their parents and the sweet little baby rhino. Walked through the bird aviary and made friends with one of the resident Kaka. Watched the cheeky Kea’s for a bit and noticed Charlie doing his ‘give me some damn attention’ pose; he looks dead.

Over all Friday was an amazing day at the zoo filled with absolutely magical experiences made possible by Tara (who won the competition to name Ketu) and the amazing staff at the zoo. I will never forget my day.

2012 Project 52 – Week 16

15th – 21st April

Bit late posting this.

We went to see Jersey Boys at the Civic on Saturday afternoon. There was a bit group including my birth family, friends and Raewyn. I do not know what I was expected, but I absolutely loved this show; such a great story about Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons.

I was surprised to learn that Joe Pesci the actor was partially responsible for introducing Bob Gaudio to the Frankie etc.

Jersey Boys is on until mid-June at the Civic in Auckland; you know you want to see it!!

I have not seen many musicals:
Dirty Dancing
Grease
Joseph and his Technicolor Dream Coat
Jersey Boys

I would love to see:
Cats
Wicked

I have decided that if Wicked comes back to Australia then Mark and I are flying over to watch it.

What musicals would you love to see?

2012 Project 52 – Week 15

8th – 14th April

I love finding new music that motivates me to exercise or dance around the house.

So this week...I totally love Carly Rae Jepsen’s ‘Call Me Maybe’
