Friday Favs – Week 15

Wedding Anniversary

Mark and I celebrated our 9th wedding anniversary on Wednesday which was fantastic. I do not normally post photos on Facebook/Instagram however this time I felt that it warranted it.

“This time 9 years ago, we got married and pledged to love each other for better or worse. We have definitely had better and worse especially over the last 5 years and we are in a much better place today. You showed me what true love really looks like.”

Tok Tok Restaurant

Such a beautiful, refreshing change to have tasty, healthy food! I have been here twice in a week and a half. You can check them out here.

Shazam

I love Shazam, honestly between Shazam and IMBD these are the things we were missing the 80’s! Now if you hear a song and you are not sure what it is, you can use Shazam to help you figure it out. Then you can just go and buy it on iTunes…no waiting to try and tape the song you want on the radio. Instant gratification.

For months, I have been trying to figure out the song that Sky has been using as its background for shows that are coming up. On Tuesday night, I nailed it! It is ‘Open up Your Eyes’ by Tom Hill & Daniel Mallender & Daniel Burrows.

Personal Trainer

Saw my new personal trainer for the first time on Tuesday and it was epic! This is the next stage of working on ‘me’.

Fat Yoga

So today I plucked up the courage to book myself into Fat Yoga at the Kindness Institute.

I have been struggling over the last few years to find some different exercise options as we overdid RPM. Every time I think about going back to the gym, all I can think about is “oh we will be doing RPM every time” and that has put me off going back. Silly excuse really.

A few months ago, the Kindness Institute started Fat Yoga. It was so popular that it sold out pretty much overnight. Then the second round that they started was happening while I was away in the UK. Then I happened across their post on Monday this week that they were starting another on Wednesday 5th April. I paid and then booked and am looking forward to doing it with my bestie. I figure when trying something a bit different it is always good to have a ‘partner in crime’.

Booking on the 'Mindbody' app was so easy and straightforward and you can explore other exercise options!

Stay tuned!

Don’t Go Chasing Waterfalls

The other day Mark and I were watching the news. There was a story about how the facilities that service the Tongariro National Park are struggling with the sheer volume of visitors. What it boils down to is that there are simply not enough toilets and amenities to adequately cope.

Mark turned to me and said “tramping and hiking would be quite a good way to get fit”. I said “yes, it would” and we left the conversation there.

Yesterday, I had a meeting with one of my clients and he was talking about how he and his wife have been doing a lot of hikes and were planning to do some of the Waitakere hikes to see the local waterfalls.

That got me thinking about how amazing it would be for Mark and I to seriously start doing some local hikes in the Waitakere Ranges. We are absolutely spoiled for choice in our area with beautiful beaches and fantastic walks. I found this great website about New Zealand Waterfalls and you can look at different waterfalls nationally.

We are going to start with some smaller ones and build up to bigger ones. I am pretty excited and I hope that as we get fitter and stronger that my dream of hiking the Milford Track will come to fruition.
